Chick's mom has been shown as a very loving and supportive character up until now in the story. She always stood up for Chick, and has was always been there for her family no matter what. The fact that even at this point in Chick's life, when she has reappeared , she is still on the lookout of her son and is guiding him towards safety, tells the reader how much she cares about her son. When Chick says, "Everything's different now," his mother replies with, "Things can be fixed," reassuring her son. In other words, Chick's mom still encourages her son to look on the bright side and not to give up. The fact that she says that ,"Things can be fixed," tells Chick that no matter what happens in an individuals life, one should not give up, but keep going. This also tells the reader no matter what the difficulties in life maybe if the person stays positive and refuses to give up, everything is bound to work out.

Agreeing with Muhammad, Chick's mother has been very supportive of her son throughout the course of the novel. Beginning when he was just a young boy, Chick's mother stood by his side regardless of how she was treated in return. Even after her death, Chick's mother watched over her son, making sure that he was doing well. Upon seeing her son in trouble, Chick's mom began to interven. The intervention of Chick's mother caused Chick to not only reconsider his suicidal thoughts, but also allowed Chick to revist his childhood. Through meeting with the ghost of his mother, Chick gains hope, and begins looking toward a brighter future. The reconnecting of Chick and his mother not only gives the reader insentive that one should never give up, but also provokes the power and strength of love.

Muhammad has a huge point. Chick's mom is always there for him and never turns her back when he needs help and always concerns herself about his well being. In a way, Chick seems kind of ungrateful for it, I know he was young at the time but he should have shown more appreciation before his mother passed away.

I agree with Muhammad. Chicks mom is showing support for her son. She realizes that he has screwed up in the last few years. However, he can turn his life around. He should how he was saved twice from something that could have killed him. Chick should look at this as a wakeup call. Chick's mother sums it up "Things can be ".when she says this she means, "you can turn your life around". Chick could do many things to improve his life. He could go to college and get a good job. He could get married and turn his life around. I predict that in the future, Chick will see this opportunity in front of him and will take it.
