At first I was not going to choose to read For One More Day because it seemed a bit boring when I read the summary but after I read the first few pages, I knew I made the right decision to read this book. It has an interest about it that not many books have. This book has the capability to hook the reader right as the story starts off. I am very selective about the books that I read and so if it does not have a good hook within the first few chapters, i tend to put it down and never get back to it, but with this book I actually look forward to reading it. It really fascinates me how many times Chick tried to commit suicide but never succeeded which at first got me thinking if there was a reason that he kept surviving all these attempts. Soon enough it becomes clear that he is somehow staying alive because he has to spend one more day with his deceased mother. I talked to my group about it and we did not know for sure if Chick was just hallucinating or if he actually did die and this is just one of his memories of seeing his mother. I personally think that it is all a very realistic hallucination (written very well by the author) of Chick seeing his mother and them spending time together and getting closer to each other. A prediction that I have (based on what i read so far) is that it is a hallucination that Chick is having and that when he wakes up/snaps out of it, it will have brought him to the realization that he needs to get his life back together and get help for himself (from the suicide attempts) and I think that he will try to rekindle his relationship with his daughter. I feel like this book will get more interesting the further I get into it and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!
